Practical Deep-Cleaning Tips

A room-by-room plan makes a deep clean more manageable.

Work from high to low

Dust higher surfaces before floors so you do not repeat work.

Separate decluttering from cleaning

Remove obstacles first, then clean the exposed surfaces.

Give products time to work

Follow product directions and use suitable ventilation and protection.

When to ask for help

If the work, equipment or condition is beyond routine maintenance, request professional guidance before proceeding.

A room-by-room order that works

  • Kitchen: inside the oven and fridge, cupboard fronts and tops, extractor filter, tiles and grout, then floor
  • Bathrooms: shower screen and grout, behind the toilet, extractor fan, mirrors and fittings, then floor
  • Bedrooms: under and behind furniture, mattress, wardrobe tops, skirting boards, windows and tracks
  • Living areas: fans, light fittings, upholstery, curtains, skirting, then floors last

Tools that save time

A steam cleaner or a stiff grout brush for tiles, a long-handled duster for fans and cornices, a plastic scraper for baked-on grease, and plenty of microfibre cloths so you are never wiping with a dirty one.

How often

Most homes in Trinidad benefit from a deep clean every three to six months, timed before Christmas, after Carnival and after the Sahara dust season. If it has been longer, or the job is bigger than a weekend, our residential deep clean covers the same list.
