Swap the products, keep the results

Warm water, a good microfibre cloth and dish soap handle most kitchen and bathroom surfaces. White vinegar diluted with water cuts soap scum and hard-water film on glass and taps. Baking soda lifts grease from hobs and deodorises sinks and bins. Save stronger products for the jobs that need them, such as mould, and use them as directed.

Use less water

Fill a bucket instead of running a tap, use a spray bottle rather than pouring, and mop with a well-wrung head. In the dry season this adds up, especially for exterior cleaning where a pressure washer uses far less water than a hose for the same result.

Make it last

A quick daily wipe of counters and a weekly floor clean mean a deep clean is needed far less often, which saves product, water and time.
