The Trinidad lawn calendar

Dry season, January to May: water deeply once or twice a week, mow less often, watch for chinch bugs and mole crickets in the heat. Rainy season, June to December: mow weekly at a higher setting, keep drainage clear, feed with a slow-release fertiliser, aerate compacted areas early in the season. Year round: keep blades sharp, edge monthly and pull weeds before they seed.

Common grasses

Most lawns here are Bermuda, Zoysia or Savannah grass. Bermuda takes sun and traffic but browns in shade; Zoysia is dense and slow; Savannah copes with poor soil. Knowing which you have changes cutting height and feeding, so send a photo with your lawn care quote request if you are not sure.
